Set your stop-loss correctly
We're big believers that setting a best average stop-loss regardless of the market/timeframe/chart/trading conditions is a huge mistake and will never work.
Even from a logical standpoint, an X pips stop-loss can't be the same for non-volatile and volatile markets. Cannot be the same for DAX and DOW. Cannot be the same for Bitcoin and Litecoin
Then comes the challenge of the trailing-stop.
Same story, it has to be adjusted based on what we're trading and what the chart is telling us
If stopped-out too often, the strategy is to:
- Remove your stop-loss
- Reduce your position size to a tiny amount
- Then, experience what happens when you don't use a stop-loss or when using a very loose stop-loss
You'll be very surprised by the results. Often, the stop-loss set too early is the reason why traders lose.
A stop-loss is absolutely necessary to protect your capital and gains, though, set too early, you'll never win
